So it's easter time. I'm looking forward to this weekend as we're off down to my parent tomorrow for a week. A long weekend off and then meetings next week in London. I've not seen my parents for a couple of months so it will be nice to see them again. I'm hoping for a weekend of nice sunny and warm weather just like easter should be.

Had a bit of fun and games today. We're currently working on rewriting both the layout (css/xhtml) code and underlying script (php) of one of my client's sites and today when I went to the site it error'd saying too many mysql connections. This means that at that moment there were 100 connections to the database. Now each connection is opened once per page view and shut once the page has rendered in the visitor's browser. Ok sorry, technical stuff done with there. Basically once the 100 connections had been used up the site died for everyone else. The site, whilst busy to the average person (4,500 visitors a day) is not essentially that busy by usual standards. It's definitely a concern as the site is set to only get busier. Personally I blame the various spiders that I think visited around that time but luckily the host has also upped the number of connections allowed to be on the safe side.

Because of this happening and having to make phone calls between the client and their host I've not really got much done at all today. It's annoying as I sat down and set out to complete the front page of the new version and to get it online to test it, but I've gotten pretty much nothing done, and then we had to go out this evening to take the easter eggs around to Dave's nieces. I now have to get packed and try and chill out a little before going to sleep. I'll maybe grab a couple of hours tomorrow before leaving to get some work done else I can see me doing a load this weekend which I don't really want to have to do but I guess it has to be done.
