As a follow up to my Improving PPC Experiment – it's been 2 weeks since I made the updates to the page in question. Some facts/figures and info.nnI started channelling the particular ad block on 19th May. On the 27th May I updated the page's content, rewrote the text by hand and sourced some appropriate links. On 2nd June the updates were cached by Google. Using the cache date as the marker the PPC has improved by a 10% increase on average. Everyday for the past week the average per day has been above average for the start of the experiement which is good, and one day it was almost 100% increase.nnOf course this is only a short test and would really need a couple of months to give more accurate results. The amounts we're talking about are not majorly high either, so a 100% increase doesn't get into double figures per click either ;) But at least it's a start that I can try and use across the site to perhaps improve the overall PPC by even 10%, which may mean an extra $10-20 per month.nnI've now changed the 4 link ad block to a 1 link block to see if I can force a higher PPC average. Of course I expect a lower CTR with this, but if it works out a higher daily average then it's still worthwhile. I'll leave that to run for a fortnight and report back again :)

Well a week later even though the average CPC has risen, and doubled at times, the eCPM dropped due to the drop in CTR so I've reverted the page back to the 4 ad format which has quite a high CTR and earns a higher eCPM than the 1 ad block.nnI'll be rewriting some other pages and seeing if at least my change in content can start to improve the CPC amountnn(all these abbreviations!)

I tested something similar to yours. I had 3 ad boxes on all of my webpages. I removed 2 of the ad blocks and placed the only one big ad block to the most prominent position. The reasults were appealing. The CPC increased 150% and CTR dropped about 30%. So this change was a success.

Well over the last month the CPC has virtually doubled on average which I'm quite happy about :)
