It can be hard to get traffic to a new website, or an old one even, without some SEO knowledge or money to throw at advertising. However yesterday I was checking the stats of a site and noticed a link to StumbleUpon in the referrals. Strange as I couldn't find the site in it, however the more I looked into using this social referral system I realised it could be exploited as a marketing tool.nnSo I signed up and then went to a site of mine, that's not in my name (just incase anyone does a WhoIS and starts getting a bit awkward over you suggesting your own sites!) and rated it. Within about 6 hours, according to the site stats we had 100 visitors to the site. Another site that I tried had 50 within a few hours.nnOf course it depends on the tags you give the site, the category it goes into and how popular that category is. And I don't know if it will be an initial upsurge and then go quiet again (so newer sites get more visitors then it drops) however even if you make a few clicks on your adsense, or a product sale, or even a bookmark – it's worth it in my book. And it's so easy to use!nnJust don't go overboard on your own sites, as I'm not sure what would happen! Essentially you're not telling people to like the site, and they can give it a bad rating if they want. You're just suggesting the site as an offering.
