Long Weekend Away

We had to go down to Cardiff on Friday for a meeting with a client. As it happens the meeting consisted of handing me a print out, telling me the domain name to use and that was that! I can't believe we drove for almost 6 hours for that! However the upside of it was that after Cardiff we drove to my parents for the weekend so I got to see them for a few days. Anyhow, whilst in Cardiff we had lunch at my favourite Italien restaurant – Zizzi's. After a 2 course meal (their Tiramisu is to die for!) we met with the client and then went straight back to the car. It seems parking in Cardiff has shot up to 70p per 20 minutes (yes I kid you not!). If I'd realised this I would have tried to park along the free parking roads!

The drive to my parents was okay, even around Oxford during rush hour. We went back to Oxford on the Saturday to go shopping, or more for a wander and some fresh air. We also caught a look at a massive fish that had been caught. Not sure if it was doing the rounds of fish markets but I'd seen it on the news the night before and then in person. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any news story on it however! But this fish was about the size of a 15-18" pizza!

On the Sunday I got a guided tour of my Dad's garden with various comments and notes on what I should be doing with my own plants. His garden is quite big, bigger than ours, and he's got everything he can growing. The nectarine tree is covered in nectarines, tomatoes everywhere, and even grapes on his grape vine. We discovered that the mixed peppers plants that he has and he gave us 3 of, will product yellow, red and green peppers, oh and black too!!! Yes we have a black pepper growing. At first I'd asked him if there was a problem with the plant but after seeing on on his own plant he checked the seed packet and saw black peppers on the photo on the front. It'll make a good photo when we have one of each colour! At the moment we have one black one and one green one. He's also keeping by some garlic and shallots ready for me to use in the winter to start growing our own of those as well.

I also had to go through various boxes that were getting in their way in the spare bedroom, packing some stuff to bring back, throwing useless rubbish out (yes you know the type!) and repacking what was left. I found various old classics such as my dancing coke can and my old recorder (the music instrument!).

So a quiet weekend away and a few old classics along the way.

  1. I hardly watch TV either, whether thats because lack of time or the fact there is nothing good on Im not 100% sure, but I reckon its a bit of both.

  2. Lack of time and lack of anything decent.

Have to say since Film Four hit freeview TV it's been pretty good so far. Caught a couple of films I've not seen for a while or haven't seen before. It's nice to know there's a film on at 9pm every night, as that's the time I want to go upstairs and just lie down and chill out before going to sleep. Gotta switch off somehow else I'll dream about work, so TV's best for that.

However it's still frustrating when they move a good program to the middle of the night :(

  3. Yeah I can imagine – when I come home from work sometimes the last thing I want to do is go on the PC, but there is often nothing on TV to hold my interests after the first Adbreak so I give up.

And go on the PC ;)
