Seeing as I've ported my Personal blog into here but I don't want to do too many personal postings here I figured I'd just do a sunday wind down. That way my friends who I know don't want to learn PHP or read about my techie stuff can just keep up to date with me on a one day a week post, and everyone else can read it or ignore it
So what's been up this week? Well most of the week has been spent in pain. Over the past week or two my neck's been feeling strained and seizing up which leads to headaches. At first I figured it was from sitting at my desk and not sitting correctly. My desk isn't massive (that one's in the garage at my parents!) and it's not overly comfortable at times. However on Wednesday I realised it's more likely to be my pillow, so a rolled up towel under the pillow has given a better support for the time being until I can find a new, decent pillow. So because of this I've spent half the week on the couch and not really interested in working! Luckily this week has been quite quiet and I've just been finishing off loose ends here and there on a couple of sites.
On Wednesday it was the first Wednesday of the month so Dave and I went to Chester to visit the Farmer's Market. It was the day after it had snowed up here so having the clear the car of snow brought back the old memories of Austrian mornings! It was pretty cold out, despite the sunshine. Chester was very empty (very peaceful too!) and gorgeous in the sunshine. I did take a couple of photos on my mobile phone so I'll get those up at some point if they're any good.
Yesterday evening we went back to Chester as I'd spied a Zizzi's restaurant there, one of the best Italian chains in this country and has a great menu and a desert menu to die for! Admittedly this restaurant wasn't as good as the one I used to go to in Cardiff, however I had no complaints about the food.
Tomorrow is the start of the strict diet. Okay so the diet isn't amazingly strict (GI Plan) but simply healthy eating clearly isn't cutting it so I'm hoping that following a bit of a plan, ensuring I eat what I should be eating (which I think is the problem to be honest, not eating everything I should) will help to make a change. This afternoon I was also planning some further exercise. We already have a rowing machine which I'll be getting back to next week (I stopped this week due to my neck), plus I'm going to start going out jogging every other morning. I also mentioned Tennis to Dave and Paul mentioned he'd be up for that along with Badminton too. I'm hoping that come the summer I'm doing one thing every day. Once the lighter nights come in we'll also go out on the bikes a couple of times a week too hopefully.
Planning for Italy is still taking place. We'll probably go in September as the holidays will be over then but it should still be reasonably warm. We'd go in June however it's a bit too soon plus we're house sitting for my parents for 3 weeks whilst they go to Canada. This way, come September we should have plenty of AIS Savings and so shouldn't have to worry about accommodation or travel. Hopefully food may be covered too.
So the snow came and went this week. We had snow on Tuesday and then a further centimetre or so on Thursday. By Saturday morning it had all gone thanks to the rain and the temperature has now warmed up enough to just keep the rain and not snow. Whether any more will come over the next week or two I don't know. By sheer coincidence our heating decided to play up on the coldest week of the winter (so far). We've finally had it all fixed, tanks replaced etc. but I have to say I was glad we had a portable oil radiator else we'd have been pretty cold some days!
Right, that's the weekly wind-down. Goodnight
