Easy Photography

I first read about The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby on Matt Cutt's blog, a Google Engineer. He's posted up a photo of fireworks and mentioned this book and what the whole idea behind the book is. It's non technicial, it doesn't go into the technicalities of a camera or anything like that. It's plain, straightforward English, with recommendation on the best time to take photos (eg. an overcast day for macro shots, dawn or dusk for landscape shots etc). Then there are a few 'recipes' at the back for the different, typical types of shots and the best set up to have.
It's certainly an easy book to read, and still gives good information for people (like me) who can't change the shutter speed, aperture or f/stop on their camera. Sure I can't use certain parts of it in the sense that I can change my settings, but I'm beginning to know which scene does what, the shutter speed and aperture of each and which I can switch to for the best results as per the book's recommendations.
Plus at £8.38 it's worth the purchase to keep in your camera bag in case you do need a quick check. Of course it's not for the professionals, but great for anyone who's still getting to grips with their camera

I'd second that. The book stopped me selling my shiny new SLR when I was beginning to think I was too thick to use it
He's not as funny as he thinks he is, though…

Heh, yeah his jokes and humour aren't too great. But once you get passed that it certainly is an easy book to read and understand.
Thanks for stopping by Gary
