Roundup 12/08/08

I spent most of last week like a zombie. I don't know why but all I wanted to do (and still want to do) was sleep. Of course, working from home most people would remark that I could sleep late if I wanted to. Sure I probably could but I try to keep a strict routine for working. I aim to get up between 7.30 and 8.30am and usually fall asleep between 11pm and midnight. When I first started working from home I'd sleep until whatever time I felt like, In fact it wasn't until early last year that I started to get strict with myself. I felt that I couldn't be answering the telephone to a client and sounding like I'd just woken up. Even though now, I can have been awake and up for an hour or two but when they phone they still sometimes say 'did I wake you up', which annoys me (but that's another matter!).
So I felt pretty much like a zombie last week, constantly feeling tired, a little down and under the weather a couple of times. As my Mum pointed out, I needed a decent holiday. Our break to Scotland was nice to get away but we spent every day driving all over the place. It was a little rushed and let's be fair, a Travelodge room is not where you want to spend the day relaxing! I need a nice, sunny holiday, where we can spend a few days doing nothing besides sitting in the sun, by the pool, sipping cocktails
I spent Thursday looking on Expedia at hotels, working out a plan of how we could go to Italy, see a few places without the need for a car. I'm certainly looking forward to it all and the next 6-7 weeks are going to be spent trying to learn basic Italian.
This week we also spent a few evenings out practising photography. We had some good evenings but unfortunately couldn't get a decent sunset. However out of the night shots we got of Liverpool, Dave has now sold one to someone which isn't bad considering it was his first time taking night shots with his new camera! It's probably a one off but it's pretty cool all the same. We found out today that we could get prints made down at our local Prontaprint at 3 A4 or 2 A3 for £5. Not bad considering both the A4 and A3 versions of Dave's picture came out very good. I may try getting one of my photos in A3 and see how it comes out. It'd be nice having some of our own photos on the bare walls here.
