A bit of light hearted fun. With all the checks to see how great your blog is doing, Adnan came up with the idea to create a tool to see how bad your blog was. A bit of a joke, simply using the Technorati API to count how many links a given site has and then giving it a rank. The ranks come in two flavours, offensive or nice. Anyhow, after a chat over some other stuff he asked me to sort out the programming side of the tool.nnSo if you fancy a go, have a laugh at the comments (don't take them seriously!) then visit How Bad is your Blog? or read Adnan's post (which is a little more indepth).nnAlso thanks to Deron for the widget buttons :) nnOh and if you fancy Digging it then that would be appreciated too ;)

That looks pretty cool, but when I tried it, i'm not sure it worked. Now I'm not trying to say my blog isn't cheap, lying, no good, rotten, floor flushing, low life, etc., but it says my blog has 0 links in technorati, but I do have a couple.nnhttp://technorati.com/blogs/www.ilovecode.com

Hi Sara, unfortunately the API key only allows 500 searches a day. I don't know when the Technorati day starts but I've switched the API to a spare one. I only discovered this late last night so will get something in place to randomly select an API key and hopefully keep the tool working all the time!nnAnyhow, it's all working again now :)

Thanks, I tried it again but still no luck. Maybe it's really popular and going through those 500 searches fast which would be great for you guys!

  • Sarah Comments:

It's honestly not hitting 500, well not in the last hour! I've switched the API back to my own one and it's working again. Am not sure if Technorati is playing up. That's the problem when you rely on a 3rd party, even one as big as them :( nnSeems it doesn't like your ilovecode.com site, with or without the ending forward slash. I'll look at that more once I'm back (gotta pop out).

Thanks for the mention Sarah! I appreciate it. Nice tool you developed. :-)

Alright Sarah, I tried it with my Wandering Family blog and it works fine. Very weird but whatever! I'll throw a link up to it!

  • Sarah Comments:

No problem Deron, nice blog by the way, considering it subscribed to :) nnSara, really not sure why it doesn't like your ilovecode.com site :( I'm still looking into it, I just got to expand the details from Technorati to see if it's not returning for any particular reason. Thanks for the link to it though :) Much appreciated.
