Refreshing Old Sites

We've had to start moving sites off one of our old servers as it's slowly grinding to a halt so I've taken the opportunity to move my sites onto my UK hosting account to get them all onto one server. This of course gives you a chance to reflect on the site and have a think about how it's working and where you could improve on it. One such site is my first full AIS site. It was set up about 3 years ago and has made a small amount of money over the years however recently the visitors have gone very quiet. But this site is quite well established with a PR4 (not that it means much but it can open doors).nnAt present the site is just an affiliate site of various products geared towards easy web development and getting started in business. This got me thinking, why not refresh the site design and content, and also add a blog, which would hopefully bring in the visitors, and then the main focus would be advertising the various products available for sale. This means fresh content perhaps once a week and I can easily waffle on about web development all day long so I could probably write a selection of posts and just post date them so that I could forget about it for the month.nnOf course I don't want to lose the main focus of the site which is to sell products, but we all know search engines love content, plus I have other sites that can link in to this site which would be relevant links.nnSometimes a fresh approach to an old site can work wonders. Maybe it's time to take a look at our old, dwindling sites, and see what we can do to improve them and get them back to the money making machines they once were ;)

  1. I'm on the same boat. As I recently decided to revamp all my sites and focus more on making money. Part of the process is moving my sites over to my dedicated server and reviewing them one by one. Most of my domains are aged (2+ years old) and have some PR. The next step is to figure ouch which ones would give me the best return on the time spent working on them. It's fun, but I have so many I want to do! ;)
