I was stood in the kitchen just before 1am, waiting for the kettle to boil so I could make myself a cuppa. I felt a slight shudder of the house...but only *very* slight. I actually put it down to the wind as it had been pretty windy for days here. Then I came to the computer to sleep it for the night when I noticed a bunch of my Twitter friends in Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham say that they'd been woken up by violent shaking. Wasn't until then and seeing it breaking news on SKY News that I realised that house shudder must have been the quake. Quite a lot of people on Tyneside did feel it quite bad, according to the e-mails coming in to the local news station. Glad I didn't feel it strong - I was in the house alone at the time!
