Were you out too or do you live nearby? We nearly got wiped out at the top of Black Horse Hill. That junction could really do with some road markings! Anyway, I've still yet to add content, just got back from 5 days away on business, so trying to catch up. West Kirby is a great place for sunsets. Head for the centre, then when you reach the railway station there's a road almost opposite that takes you down to the prom. Down there you can park up for free and you've got the entire Marina lake to wander around. Depends on the type of shots you want. I've had a couple of good sunsets from the far end of the Marina with silhouettes of people out walking, there's also a car park at the other end (free) where you can park up and easily set up a tripod, although that goes for most of the road along there. Plus it's great if anyone's out on the lake in a boat or windsurfing. If you go into my West Kirby sunset shots on Flickr, and look at the map you'll see where they've been taken :) Look forward to seeing what you get. Also, if you need a restaurant recommendation then <a href="http://www.kukis.co.uk">Kuki's</a> is fantastic. Spanish and Italian food, well priced and just one street up from the prom so literally 50m off the front parade.
