Hi Shaw, I don't believe Crucial sell full systems, just peripherals such as memory and graphics cards. If you want to get a decent but cheap backup system go for a cheap Dell.

Wow, That is pretty amazing. I just got a virus on my main computer at home, and while I was able to fix it, I decided I better get one for back up. I was going to go to costco, but I'll check the site out! Shaw

Wow, it sounds like a great service. I'm in South Africa so I don't know if they would take time sending goods I bought online to me. Damn it!

Yeah, there's usually a small charge I think but you can order up until 8pm for next day delivery and I had a free shipping voucher at the time which helps :)

I'll have to check on eBuyer before I buy a 2GB stick for my own laptop, see which one is cheaper :)

Although Crucial has free delivery, so not sure about eBuyer on that front.

I bought 2gig of crucial ram recently too for my laptop and it cost even less than what you paid! I get mine from ebuyer and the 2gigs (2 x 1gig sticks) came in at £23.22.

Definitely a top brand for the price.

Kevin - I've never seen RAM with lights on it!

Khalid - I know the feeling. About 18 months ago I spent over £60 on 2 * 512mb sticks for my old laptop. Before I'd got the new RAM in it started to overheat and shut down, and so it was a waste of a purchase!

With the prices of RAM dropping at the moment, it makes sense to upgrade it where possible. I think I paid several hundred for 4Gb of ram for my Mac Pro. It's a fraction of that now! And 1Gb for my laptop comes in at £12! If only I had a spare slot on my laptop to fill!

I've bought Crucial memory quite a few times now. 4 years ago I spent a few hundred pounds on 4gb of ram - they were the top of the range ones with the colour indicators that flash up and down your desktop to show activity..geeky but cool!!

I also upgraded one of my older laptops with crucial and never had any problems. For such a respected brand, they're usually well priced. I've never bought from them directly though, always via somewhere like ebuyer.com, so it's good to know that direct is an option (ie. i'll order directly if they're cheaper!).
