Other AIS blogs

I first started hearing about the term "AIS" over at a forum I frequently visit. I've been signed up to affiliate schemes since the late 90's making maybe £100-150 in total over the years via Amazon, Easily Ltd etc. Even in 2000 I bought a domain that I still intend to set up as an affiliate goldmine, I've just not had the time to do anything with it yet due to client work and ideas. However I've read with a lot of interest about the whole AIS situation and what people are doing to make money while they sleep. I currently have the following blogs in my Feedreader, which I tend to check on daily, usually when I'm eating my dinner at the desk (we don't have a table to sit at in the house so I eat in my room at my desk!).

Burt's osCommerce Blog is getting less about osCommerce and more about, well stuff that interests me! I've never used osCommerce before as I developed my own shopping cart software before I knew about osCommerce. I'm currently putting the finishing touches to my own similar version except that it's far more lightweight and modular (and will only be available from me and associated colleages). Anyhow Burt is the reason everyone else is doing their AIS thing. He started looking at a few sites he set some things up, made a bit of cash (okay a lot of cash!) and then sold them, usually because I think he likes the challenge of turning something around or making something from scratch and watching it succeed. He's been very successful with his AIS work and his blog is a very interesting read.

Boo's route to Debt Freedom is such a heartfelt, heart-warming blog. She somehow manages to freelance full time, sell books on eBay, raise a family and run a house! As well as her AIS ventures. Where she finds the time is beyond me! I only just unpacked from last weekend yesterday! Her current AIS venture is the challenge of building 1 site per day to get to 100 web sites, and making $1 per day per web site therefore making $36,500 a year. I'm not sure how many web sites she's set up so far but I know she's been having a few problems getting them into search engines. Her blog I love to read because I really feel sympathy for her spending out money and time and not seeing results yet. I hope things pick up soon.

$1 A Day is the original challenge setter after Burt suggested 100 web sites at a $1 a day. From what I read today he seems to be doing okay with his adsense, $6 a day average on about 20 web sites. I'm not sure how many of these sites are in search engines or getting many visitors, I'm guessing that $6 is not over all 20 web sites, probably more like 10-15. Still that's quite nice, $6 a day translates to roughly £100 a month. That would do nicely! £1200 a year would pay for a nice couple of holidays during the year.

AIS Challenge is another challenger with a twist. The first 3 people have purchased a piece of software to create their web sites, and pay for keyword listings as well, whereas Dan is using free open source software and free keyword tools to generate his websites. So his outgoings are lower. It will be interesting once his and the other's web sites get into full swing, to see the difference if any from the two different methods of web site building.

And of course there's me! I'll start posting information up once there is something more interesting to read besides a few cents here and there!
