Adsense CPC Check

Following my post on Monday about Adsense CPC Dropping, I still decided to do a quick check over the past 8 months since the site has been live. Comparing the first two weeks to the last two weeks of the month my findings actually show no major difference in immediate drop from the previous to new month bar a drop of 0.003c between the average CPC for the last part of June and the first 3 days in July. However looking at the eCPM for the first two days in July, it was the lowest since mid May, so the CTR was actually a lot lower than normal. That coupled with the weekend and probably numbers down due to the holiday in the US and people consoling theirselves in the UK after the football, does give reason for the initial drop. The figures are now picking up a little, however visits are still down by a couple of hundred a day.

However the interesting point I noticed whilst reviewing the stats is that we now get 3 times less per click than we got in November-January time. Towards the end of February it started to drop and kept to about 50% less, and it's since reduced by a further 33%. I know the reason for the first drop, as we filtered some high paying adverts that were constantly being shown but completely in the wrong place and kept CTR down to virtually nothing. However the last drop has just come over time. Going by the amount we earnt last month of $100+ that could mean an extra $25-35 we're missing out on each month.

Anyhow, result of check - nothing funny going on really, just less clicks on the weekend bringing the overall average down.
