Blogging for Business

I decided to try an experiment of blogging to improve business on a fairly quiet site of mine. Last month I redeveloped a site of mine that sells osCommerce templates and eBooks. I've changed the site into using a blog on the front end and then link to the various pages selling the products. Over the summer I've started to get more experience with osCommerce as a new client of mine had an existing site using the software and we've just launched her new site also with osCommerce as she's familiar with it and happy to use it (not my first choice but I'm getting used to it!). I've used the blog as a way of writing up my own discoveries, issues, titbits of information and links and info on the various contributions we've used. It'll be handy as a reference in the future for me and I also hope it'll be of interest to people visiting the site and perhaps draw more people in as well. I realise this changes the site from an AIS site into something that requires additional content, but to be fair most of my posts take perhaps 5 minutes to type out and I can easily add a post a couple of times a week to keep the content fresh.nnSo far however the stats are down. Whether this is due to the addition of the blog and the dramatic site change or just that time of year, I don't know. I added the blog at the beginning of October and October's visitors were 33% down compared to the previous 3 months. It's quite a difference in numbers but I'm hoping they'll increase back to normal if not higher once the rankings settle again.
