When to launch a Site
January 7, 2007 – 10:29 pm
I've had a domain lingering for over 6 years with one main plan for the site. I've got everything I need to set the site up but have been wanting to finish my other sites first. Plus the site will take a bit of work to set it up how I want it.
However I could do a quick solution on the site to get it up and live but would this be a good idea? I realise sites expand and grow all the time and in theory version two would just be an upgrade and an improvement, so am I just being stubborn and wanting to launch version 2 straight off and possibly losing out on possible income by not setting up version 1. Considering I first thought of this site 6 years ago when I bought the domain I guess I can't expect to have done version 2 any time soon.
I'm not a fan of running a site half done, but I guess if the site appears to be finished then it's not such a bad thing. You know, sometimes putting things down on paper (or in this case screen) helps you see a little more clearly…!

I think you should just get it up, finish the other sites and then back to it.

Yeah, I agree with Dave - go for it!
I'm like you - I like to get a site fully functioning and nicely finished off before I put it online. Sometimes, though, this means you never get around to doing it.
Once you've got something online you'll have more motivation to improve it.

Cheers for the comments guys. Tom I think you're right, if it's online then it'll be lingering in front of me more and give me a good kick to getting it sorted out properly!
