First Single Post TLA sold
May 8, 2007 – 9:44 pm
Unintentionally I've sold a Text Link Ad off a single post on one of my blogs this evening. I knew the option had been available for blogs but I thought I had to physically update my account to allow advertisers to buy a link at the bottom of my posts, however that's not the case so it seems! Again, I didn't have a clue as to what the advertiser was paying, but after authorising the link it seems I get $2.40 for the month. Nothing amazing but considering these links don't affect your sidebar links eg. your 4 or 6 links being sold sitewide, then it's a nice little addition.
The other good thing in my opinion is that if the link is on an older post it's not so important as to whether it's as relevant or not. Your regular visitors won't see the link anyhow as it's only displayed on the single post page which is often my concern of selling links on a site that tries to attract return visitors.
The link itself? Well below your post it simply comes up with "Related Link: Site name (linked) followed by bit of blurb".
It'll be interesting to see how long the advertiser keeps the link however as the post doesn't have any PR and I doubt it gets many visitors. Still, a few extra cents in the pot for the time being ![]()

You know, that's kind of funny - I just got a post ad as well and like you it doesn't have any pagerank and I'm not really sure if it honestly gets much traffic.
But… I'll take the couple of dollars each month for as long as they keep paying

I'd love to know what makes an advertiser choose a particular site or in this case post. What are their factors and reasoning behind it.
Congrats on the post sale
Makes you think if you could make $2 on every post you'd be quids in (or dollars in, in your case!).

Did anyone else find the (lack of) instructions a bit of a hurdle? I've installed the WP plugin, quickly discovered I had to remove my previously hard-coded TLA functions, edited my blog listing to allow post-level ads. Now what?
There's a button on the TLA site to update posts. Huh?
The documentation supplied with the plugin is seriously lacking.

Actually all I did was update the WordPress plugin. I already had the old one to display the links in the sidebar, and I happened to update it a few weeks back for some reason. That's all I did. As I mentioned, I didn't even do anything on my TLA account and suddenly I've sold a link!
