Alexa Experiment

Further to my post on how Alexa Rank affects income for those who sell advertising via companies such as Text Link Ads. After looking at the stats of Site 2 on my other post, last week the visitor numbers rose even further to an average of over 800 visitors for the week days.
So I've decided to try adding the Alexa button to the site in question. I know in the past one minute I thought it worked, then more recently I tried it on a quieter site and saw the rank in fact drop. I know others have tried and not really seen any changes either, but I figured that with the bizarreness of this site's stats vs Alexa rank, it was maybe a good guinea pig for the experiment.
I've decided to leave the button there for at least a month. To monitor the visitor stats and of course the Alexa rank, once a week. So first of all, to prove what they currently are:

I'm starting to wonder how Alexa works, afterall the traffic rank on the Alexa site says '3 months average' so even if your site goes from dead quiet to busy as heck, because the rank is a 3 month average it won't necessarily reflect a busy month or week. The 1 week average does this better so I'm going to add this to the list too, however this figure in theory proves that putting an Alexa button on your site doesn't affect your traffic rank, because at 800 daily visitors it says the week's estimate is 1,389,963 which isn't reflective of the visitor count in my opinion.

Visitors have increased by at least 100 a day extra on average. 2 days topped 1000 visitors.
I just realised I missed a week out. Last week I was a bit hungover and tired. Guess I forgot!

Average for the week 919 visitors a day, 2 days topped 1000 visitors.

Average for the week, 917, 2 days topped 1000 visitors.
The one week average for this is 2,459,798.
I think this week has finally proved the theory of putting an Alexa button on your site doesn't work.
