Easy Stats

Recently, whilst looking for a stats plugin for WordPress for non technical people to view and understand, I came across Wordpress.com's own Automattic Stats. This is a nice little plugin that uses your API key and updates stats on your Wordpress.com account, thus keeping your own site free of stats data and server load.nnYou can add this plugin to multiple WordPress sites and your stats will be kept separate on the WordPress.com site. It's quite handy as the stats are nice and clear telling you the most popular pages, referrers, search terms used, which links were clicked to leave your site plus the latest 5 incoming links. They're nothing major but perhaps more accurate statistics and easier to read than a standard stats package. If you run sites on WordPress this is definitely good for your own tracking. As for clients, well I also found bsuite which does a simple job of showing the most popular pages and posts, how many page views for the day and previous days, plus referrers and search terms used. Nice and simple for clients to use, and you can set the user role for stats availability which means a client can have a basic login but still see their stats and not be able to make any administration type changes (always handy!).

  2. I should mention that this uses JavaScript to collect the stats and you also need wp_footer() in place. Took me a while to suss out why one blog wasn't registering anything!
