Remember Your Old Sites!

The other day my Adsense jumped by almost $2 from one click. On further checking of the channels I saw it came from a site I rarely think about these days. It's one that's on my revamp list, just over 3 years old, and just sits online with a handful of daily visitors, and it may or may not make a bit of cash. Actually it was my first full AIS site since my attempt at using Amazon to power a shopping site back in 1999.

I went to the site for some reason, and I happen to notice on my toolbar that it had a PageRank of 4. So why haven't I submitted it to Text Link Ads?! It's a web development oriented web site, selling templates, designs, business stationery and has only bits of information on, articles written by yours truely on how to set up as a hosting reseller or set up a business website on a budget. So this afternoon I added it into my TLA portfolio and will potentially make around $10 a link.

This post is just a reminder, AIS may be automated, you may be able to set the sites up and forget about them, but don't do it literally! You never know what other form of monetisation that site could now use.

    That's funny, just earlier this week, I did exactly that. I submitted an established, PR4 web development site that I've had for years to TLA. It sold its first link within 48-hours, but it was for a games website so I declined it.

    48 hours? That's the quickest I've heard a link be sold! Not bad going :) Yeah it's funny how in this business you set sites up and then in part forget about them and move onto the next. I guess I really should just be more organised and know what's making what etc. but that's on my to do list ;)

    Certainly older sites are much more valuable than new sites in terms of making a passive income.

    Old == Good ;)

    Once I've finished off our other main site I intend to revamp this older site, get the rankings back up and the visitors back in. Certainly an older domain is better to work on :) Hopefully a few TLAs sold along the way will help too :D

    Looking back on the email notifications I received, the site was accepted into the TLA inventory at 8.24pm and the first link was sold by 1.34am. Just over 5-hours!

    It's not so impressive that no more links have been sold since then, though.

    I tend to find advertisers are like buses, none for ages then a couple come along at once :D
