Just Say No

I'm still looking for the light at the end of the tunnel with regards to work. I'd hoped to have cleared my towering pile before I went on holiday, then I'd hoped to have it clear for the start of June. My clients seemed to have dragged their feet over their sites, or keep changing their minds creating more work for me. Today I had a call off someone I was doing some coding for who had expected to call today with the details of the work and have it done for them by tomorrow. After 6 weeks of not hearing from them they expect me to drop everything!

I decided after this call that I have had enough this year. I have about 2-3 months worth of work still to do and then I want to devote about 25-30 hours a week to my contract job, that will easily cover my outgoings and still give me some savings, plus give me a lot more spare time to catch up with my reading and own sites. So now I've just got to say No!! Of course I'll still look after existing clients with little touch ups, tweaks and updates. And if Dave can take care of the job then that's fine by me. I may take the odd job on and source it out, just to keep the odd client happy, but mainly I just want to be left alone.

Call it complaining if you want, it's not. I'm so happy and amazed that I've made a success of my business, but I'm tired, stressed and pretty worn out. So now I just have to say no and not be weak and give in. This could possibly be a hard job for me!
