Catch Up

Quick catch up as it's just been one of those weeks where I feel like I've been working constantly but got nothing done!
First off I want to congratulate a good friend of mine - Annette, who passed the second level ski instructors course the other week in Austria. (Yes you can ski in Austria in the summer - just!). So congrats to her, it sounded like a hard course and she deserves to have passed it
She's made me a little jealous as a few years ago we were going to do the course together but it worked out too much money at the time (around £500 for a 10 day course including travel and board). I doubt it's something I'll ever do now, especially as I've not skied in almost 18 months. However I'm very proud of her passing it and just hope now if we ever ski together again I can keep up!
Work's been busy. Just trying to tie up loose ends of the last few sites I have on the go. I've been playing with bulk SMS systems for my contract job, Mass emailing (all legit!) for another company and trying to co-ordinate a Community website which we're building for someone. I'm also waiting for the delivery of my new gadget and am getting more impatient as time goes on!
The garden's been going well. We had to dig up a potato plant on the weekend as one of the storks had been infected however the potatoes were still fine, just small as it was far too early for them. But I still cleaned them up and BBQ'd them on sunday in some tinfoil with a little sea salt and oil. The lettuces have gone mad. We have 10 little gem lettuces that are all ready to be picked, so I'll be cutting up a couple on the weekend for us and maybe give one or two away. The rocket and mixed leaf lettuces are also growing nicely, which we just pick leaves off when we want (and when they're large enough!). The rocket is so easy and quick to grow and gives such a nice peppery taste, goes great in a sandwich! And we also have a major abundance of blackberrys starting. This is just a section of brambles which we left on the hedge to see if anything would grow. I would estimate there's 3-5 2l boxes worth of pickings on it, and I'll be starting this weekend as there's around a box's worth ready. So it'll be blackberry and apple pie for a while and when the raspberrys are ready they'll go in there too! Plus our tomatoes are starting to grow. We have a few on 3 out of the 4 plants and will get a good few to keep us going. We spend a lot on tomatoes as I prefer to eat ripened tomatoes, ones with flavour that you can taste, not the cheap orange coloured ones that are more for filler!
And that's about all. We've not done much this past week. Last weekend was the first quiet weekend for a month where no one visited or we didn't have to go out to anywhere. With the heat that we've had we just haven't wanted to do too much!
