Personal Roundup

Well I did a Business roundup which was meant to be personal stuff, so here's the personal one instead!

Easter weekend was great. 4 days of peace. After spending every hour working manically for work the previous two weeks, the long weekend was very welcomed. We decided to go out on the bikes on Good Friday. Where we live there is a massive cycle network in and around Cheshire. Dave knew of one route that would take us up to the coast and then along the coast north. At first my intention was to go so far, stop for some lunch and at that point we'd turn around and cycle back. However after an hour and a bit of cycling we got to Parkgate, and had the most gorgeous, freshly cooked fish and chips. I love it when it's just been cooked and the fish just melts in your mouth. At that point it was a beautiful day. The sun had been out since we left home and had no plans to go anywhere. So we continued cycling through peaceful countryside, eyeing up very nice large houses along the way! We then got to Thurstaston and lost the trail. We had two choices, cycle up a long road that was uphill (never fun) or take the bikes down to the beach and walk along the sand. I opted for the beach however it was very tiring! The tide was on its way in and all the sand that we could walk on was very soft and dry which made it all the more harder to walk along. Eventually we got to the other side and found the trail again and continued up to West Kirby, where we found the train station and got the train back.

Have to say by the time we got home I was absolutely shattered! I went for a bath to try and help ease any aches and then fought to stay awake until 10pm! Saturday I actually felt okay except my backside was quite sore for the saddle. I guess that's just a matter of needing to get used to it. However the ride itself wasn't too hard going, and overall we cycled around 15 miles plus walked for about a mile on the beach. It was a fantastic day however.

On Easter Monday we decided to go to Llandudno in North Wales. Unfortunately this was the day that the sun decided to go and hide behind a lot of clouds :( We got to Llandudno in about 45 minutes and then got quite cold whilst there! Plus there wasn't a great deal there. We then drove on to Bangor and had some lunch, then took a look around Caernarfon and then made our way back and stopped off at Colwyn Bay on the way back. Found some good spots for taking the bikes and going cycling, especially at Colwyn Bay. There's a very long cycle route all along the beach front, so once we've got a bike rack for the car we'll be off up there.

We also went to Alton Towers last Wednesday, taking Dave's nieces. We managed to get at least one ride on all the top rides however we will be returning when the kids are at school and hopefully it's a lot quieter! Still, we had some thrills that's for sure. I tried to get a few action shots of the rides too so I'll be adding those to Flickr too.

Otherwise, besides work, most of my time has been spent pottering around in the garden. With the good weather I've been making the most, tidying up the garden and getting seeds planted. We've now got over 70 chilli plants growing - a mix of Capsicum, Demon Red, Tokyo Hot, Green Jalapenos and Cayenne Chillis. I've also got various salad on the go - lettuces, radish, spring onions and red onions. Plus of course our Garlic and Shallots which will be coming up in just under 3 months. I've decided to try my hand at growing sunflowers too, and to see if I can get any sunflower seeds from them as well (something more to eat!). The garden's looking really good finally, after a years work on it. We're having a BBQ in a couple of weeks with family as it's my *cough* 30th birthday *cough* so I'm putting the finishing touches to what was the builder's yard when we moved in, and hopefully we'll have some plants planted out by then and have the ground looking a little less bare!

Here's to more sunny weather 8)
