A Glorious Friday

Chester Streets Today has been a glorious day of semi warm weather and sunshine. Yes, England is finally seeing some sun this year!!

Yesterday I had hoped to take the afternoon off work and go out for the afternoon, however we got tied up with work so we both agreed we'd go out today as the weather was going to be nice. In fact the weather was perfect all day. We headed down to Chester on the bus (so that I could have a drink or two whilst we were out!), grabbed a late lunch and then took a wander around the town first. The buildings in Chester are gorgeous. As you can see from the photo, a lot of the buildings have this white and black design, similar to what you often see in an old farm house, or a quaint little cottage. It's a design I love and would love to have in my own home. Chester is a very old city in England, there are a lot of old ruins, excavation going on, and a lot of the older buildings or at least their fronts have been retained.

What you can't see from the photo is that on each side of the street is two floors of shops. Between the downstairs shops are sometimes steps and then you can go up into a small walkway and enter other shops on the first floor. It's really cool and the whole look is just so great, and typically English I guess!

Anyway, we wandered through the town and then down to the River Dee which passes through Chester. An icecream (real stuff made from cream!), sitting by the river front, watching the ducks and sitting in the sunshine - what more could you want?!

I took a few various photos, some town shots, river shots and one of the church ruins. If you want to see them then they're all under the Chester Set on Flickr.

Gotta say, I feel really relaxed after today! 8)

  2. Sounds like you had a lovely day :) I love this time of year when it's not too hot and not too cold - and the sun is shining  Lovely photos too.

  3. The day was fantastic. Absolutely perfect :)

I like sunny cold days, those you get in December when you need to wrap up to keep warm but still need the sunglasses on. Probably why I liked working in Austria as we had 3-4 months of that!!

I forgot to say, anyone who comes over to this area of England, Chester is a must!

  4. Oh yeah, sunny cold days are the best :)

I haven't been to Chester but I recall planning on going there one day when we were in Liverpool. I can't remember the reason we didn't make it there, but it's a shame as I have heard it's lovely.
