Personal Update 21/10/07

Yes I'm a day late, yesterday wasn't a good day to be honest. This is only quick too as I've got so much work to sort out today before I go out later for Kickboxing.

The major thing this week was after being given our marching orders by the landlady a week ago friday, Monday evening she phoned up to tell us (yet again) that we didn't have to move out now. Gotta say, I'm getting so fed up with being messed around. Plus she informed us if we wanted to stay she'd be putting the rent up by another £60! That's around a 15% increase. I just said we'd discuss whether we were going to stay or not but we still don't intend to. We're fed up of being messed about and to be honest I just don't feel secure here any more. This week we spoke to a couple of people about properties they had for rent. One we've known about for a while and were told it would be available to view next week. It's only £500 a month (plus £500 bond), no extra fees, 3 bedroom, quiet area, with a garage and driveway. Sounds perfect so we're really hoping that we can get it, however we've been getting mixed messages from the actual owner and his manager. The owner seems to say that we're first on the list for the place however the manager commented that others were interested too. So we'll just have to see. I'm going to get Dave to phone him back this week and actually sort a time out for viewing as if we like it then we'll happily write out a cheque for the rent and bond there and then.

Last Monday I started Kickboxing. I survived the hour! I was well impressed as I really didn't think I'd be walking out the building (more carried out on a stretcher). I did get a couple of dizzy spells when I'd run out of oxygen, but I managed to keep calm which is my main problem usually. As for the actual practising of technique, I had that pretty much spot on once we were shown it. Okay, well maybe it wasn't spot on but the instructor didn't feel the need to correct anything. Still, I really enjoyed myself and am looking forward to tonight for the next lesson.

Tuesday morning, OH - MY - GOD did I ache! In fact I already felt like I'd pulled a hamstring on Monday night however by Tuesday everything hurt so much I couldn't feel one particular pain, it was all painful! I'd already had a bad back during the day on Monday so naturally none of my evening's exploits had made it any better. Everytime I sat still I was fine until I moved, then the pain crept back in. Even a hot shower wouldn't get rid of it! I'm so thankful of working from home on days like these! We also had the pest control man back and he reckoned that our mouse problem was no more. Seems they mainly ate the poison he'd put in the loft which has really made me feel uncomfortable knowing they were up there too. I must admit, I can't wait to get out of this house.

Wednesday we drove down to my parents as we had meetings in London on Thursday. Sitting still for 3 hours didn't do my aches and pains any good. Plus I'd not slept very well for 3 nights running so I was absolutely shattered. Thankfully I'd only arranged to meet at 11am the next day which meant we didn't have to leave too early and most of the heavy traffic had gone already. Thursday was spent in Chiswick, West London, meeting a new client and catching up with an old one.

Friday was a fairly lazy day, popped to the bank to deposit some cheques, had a look for a new decent pillow to hopefully sort my sleepless nights out, and then just catching up on the urgent work. On Saturday we decided to drive home during the time when the Rugby world cup was on. We figured this would be the quietest and best period to go in! We were right too. We shot home in under 3 hours including a pitstop for refueling.

Yesterday was spent trying to clear up and sort things out. I've dumped chilli plants that are just dying and potted up plants that look either more prospective or have a couple of fruit on them but they've been in the ground. Luckily our tomatoes didn't die in the cold weather whilst we were away (as I forgot to cover them up) however they're still not looking as good as they should, but that will be due to the lack of warmth and sunlight. Maybe next year will be better for the garden.

  2. Hey, how's it going?

I got so busy, I actually missed my post quota for last week! :P

Too many things to do with too little time.

  5. Last week wasn't bad, I spent time with my parents which I wouldn't change for the world :)

This week's just been about catching up on work. We've not moved yet. Got a couple of viewings next week hopefully and then we'll know more then.
