I decided at Christmas that the best way to extend my desk to allow me to organise my client folders and work a bit better and also clear my desk a little would be to get some shelves built to suit the height of my desk and to provide extra shelving above the desk. At first I asked Paul to ask his step dad who enjoys building and DIY. However after 3 months of waiting I decided to buy some prebuilt ones. My original plan was to get some shelves built to spec. At Christmas I bought a new flatbed copier/scanner/printer, Epson RX425, which is quite large, and so I figured a set of shelves built to fit my desk would be perfect, however I've settled for a set of bog standard shelves at £25 and a thin CD/DVD rack at £20 from Argos. Between them they make the width of my desk (almost) and they'll come in handy at a later date on their own. At least I've managed to clear my desk a lot better and am a lot more organised now. Things look tidy and I work better when I have space.

It's my Mum's 60th Birthday today (yes her brother's yesterday and hers today!). I have to say for certain that she honestly doesn't look anywhere near 60, to be honest I'd estimate about 50. I've not bought her anything yet. Unfortunately she's not very helpful with hints on presents. In the past I've usually bought some sort of ornament, or dust gatherer as I call them. I don't want to buy another piece of ceramic that sits in a cabinet or on a shelf and gathers dust that maybe gets glanced at every so often. I want to buy something of use that she'll remember me by every time she sees it and uses it.

What do you buy a 60 year old who has pretty much everything she needs?!

We had guests due this evening, friend's of Dave's. They were due to come over last night however their car broke down and couldn't make it. I'd already prepared 2lb of Chilli and some Chicken Fajitas. They rearranged for tonight however by 8:30pm we figured that they weren't coming so cooked up some of the food and had mexican food a second night in a row! We now have about 3 large boxes full of Chilli in the freezer too, however it's too spicy and strong for me, plus it has mushrooms in which I don't like so Dave will have to eat it all! Personally I'll stick with Chicken Fajitas, my favourite food these days.

So it's April Fools day and it's also my Uncle's Birthday. He's my Mum's older brother and I believe turning 65 today. I remembered to send him a card which is good. I'm intending to start sending all family members birthday cards as they send them to me afterall!

Today is Saturday, just another day really. I tend to relax better on the weekends, probably because I'm less scared of a client taking note of my status on MSN compared to during the week, or of course having to deal with phone calls. However I usually try and take Saturdays off work and just take it easy as I work pretty solidly all week. Today I spent the day searching for a little inspiration on how to redesign and layout my photo gallery which led me to think about utilising a domain I have by selling photo gallery templates that would run off my software, and allow people to sign up for basic free versions or pay more for extras such as space and better designs, or create their own. Looking around at present there's not much on offer of photo galleries where non web developers can have a nice looking site. It's just a thought that would need further research, for now I just want to get my own site sorted out first.

I also stepped out in the garden today to make a start on clearing it up and getting it looking a little nicer for the summer. I'm looking forward to the summer this year what with our new french doors and a garden available to me for BBQs and just general lounging in. I already have 6 raspberry canes growing, courtesey of my Dad, so I'm hoping they'll give some fruit come late summer. We dug up a couple of sides but stopped after hitting the bricks buried at the back of the garden. We've also put some grass seed out on the patchy areas of the grass, hopefully it will fill it a little before we come to cut it as right now there are a few bare patches. I'm intending to make a little herb garden too.

So I figured that my main blog has turned into a business and techie site which is great as the visitor count is there but I've also felt put off about posting too many personal posts as I don't feel they belong there any more. So I decided to run a new set up of WordPress on a subdomain and use this for my more personal stuff. Plus I know some friends who come to the site looking just for personal stuff, I don't think they're interested with how to learn PHP!

So I'm aiming on more categories and going to just post up the daily stuff that goes on. I'm planning for a great summer, it'd be nice to document it.

Welcome to Just Me.
